Will Marketing Become Obsolete?
Will marketing become obsolete?
Bad marketing will. The sooner, the better too!
What do I mean by bad marketing?
It’s the kind of marketing that prevailed over the last few decades. It’s the marketing that irritates people. It’s loud, obnoxious, intrusive, and disruptive (and not in a good way). It’s spam in our email, text, and junk mail. It’s pop-ups and TV commercials. It’s things that have no relevance to us as consumers. Yet bad marketing forces it on us.
No one likes that.
It’s not 100% obsolete, but it is definitely on its way out the door.
Good riddance to bad rubbish!
But that is not the only marketing that we see these days. There is a good side to marketing.
Once upon a time, I would not have said that. I didn’t know the difference. These last two years in business for myself have altered that perception though. I’ve seen firsthand how people are able to market themselves in a positive light and in a winsome way.
They’ve done so by being people first. They’ve offered help. They’ve answered questions. They’ve created a community. They’ve nurtured relationships.
They attract people into their orbit and invite them to come along on a journey. There is hope, optimism, genuine caring, and a desire to serve people.
That is the kind of marketing I can get behind. It fits so well within my worldview and the way I operate. It is something I have tried to emulate and I know in my core that it is working.
It’s not an easy road or a quick way. I don’t have ninja tips or hacks for you. I have work, time, energy, consistency, service, & reliability. That is the crux of great marketing.
That will never be obsolete.
